Day 243: Cedar Point

Today Boyd and I went to Cedar Point, the amusement park with the biggest, baddest, fastest, coolest, tallest, etc. roller coasters. A while back we donated blood and got free tickets. Woot! We went on most of the rides, minus the spinny rides because we both would get way to sick. We went on Blue Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Iron Dragon, Magnum XL-200, Maverick (personal fave), Mean Streak (and got rattled to death!!!), Wild Cat, the Giant Wheel, the new WindSeeker (which was cooler that we thought), and Boyd went on Top Thrill Dragster. I was too wimpy and didn't go on the dragster, the 420 feet tall, 120 mph coaster that shoots you straight up and lets you drop straight down. That didn't sound too appealing to me. Before Boyd went on the ride, somebody had just barfed all over, sorry that was gross. Anyway, I decided that we are probably getting old because after the first ride, Blue Streak, both of us felt a tiny bit queasy. But overall we had a ton of fun!

Proof that we went and used our tickets! Yay!
P.S. Right after this picture our camera ran out of batteries. boo

At the end of the day Boyd, Snoopy, and I were all ready to go home.

Wanna hear a funny story?!?!?
So, Boyd and I went to Cedar Point on our honeymoon. While we were there, enjoying our day, somehow our car keys fell out of Boyd's pocket. We had a fun day and didn't notice till it was time to go home. We just rode Raptor (which we did not ride this time) and both felt a little sick. So, we walked to the car and realized that we didn't have any keys! uh oh! Both of our cell phones were locked in the car, along with our wallets, belongings, etc and we didn't have change to use a pay phone. We were both starving but only had enough money to buy Subway (so we go to Subway on our anniversary).  To make a long story short, the park actually stayed open late that night, but we were done at 6:00 p.m. We had to wait till they closed up the park. We had somehow called Boyd's parents and they were on the 2 hour drive up to Sandusky to get us. The park people had broken into our car for us so we could at least sit in it. Just as the park closed and Boyd's parents were 10 minutes away, we got a phone call saying they found our keys! Moral of the story, DO NOT LOSE YOUR KEYS AT AMUSEMENT PARKS! This time Boyd tied the keys to his shorts. Literally. He took the metal loop, and tied it to the drawstring of his shorts three times over. Every chance I got I would ask Boyd if he still had the keys (before and after each and every ride).  We weren't taking any chances today.

Day 242: Blogging from my Phone

I'm learning how to use my phone more effectively. It just hash't taken over my life like it should. Last night I used it to take notes for the first time and totally rocked it. I didn't miss a thing. Right now I'm racing Allison but I lost. She posted faster than me.
We decided that we should keep a tally of all the deer we see. I think a  day does not go by without us seeing at least one. Here is a picture I took of two bambis that we saw while at the storehouse.

Day 241: Fishing

I have been editing my eye balls out lately. I came across this picture and it made me laugh. Luke, the boy in the picture was trying to fish in their stream with a rake. This makes me want to go fishing with my family. I love his face in this picture because he hadn't caught anything yet.

Day 240: Indians Vs. Royals

Final
Indians: 8
Royals: 7

This was a super fun game to be at (not to mention we got some pretty cool free mugs). Boyd was such a huge Indians fan as a kid. Jim Thome played 3rd base when the Indians were successful in the 90's. Now he is playing for the Indians again and we got to see his first home run after rejoining the team. This game totally had its ups and downs, but we are super glad it ended with the Indians on top.

Thanks Dad Bills for giving us these tickets. He got them from work and we were the lucky recipients. We had 4 tickets, but Beth and Scott couldn't make it. Boyd and I loved having the extra space on either side. From now on we might just consider purchasing two extra tickets every time.

Do you like my shirt? Boyd bought it for my birthday but it came in the mail a few weeks ago. It was such a popular shirt that it was back ordered from May. I'm so glad it came and I really wanted a picture of it. We had some struggles with our point-and-shoot and getting both of us centered that we took this picture about 10 times. Boyd is such a sport!

I was so tired by the end of the game that I made us leave after the 7th inning. We just got home from camping today, helped someone move, made a Costco run (which is very exhausting), and then went to the game (plus I still had a lesson to plan when we got home). Needless to say we were both very tired. You can see it in my eyes, I have tired eyes. Anyway, on our drive home we were listening to the game and we missed the game winning home run. I'm so lame. BUT, we did get to see the filming of the new Avengers Movie! We were trying to get home and drove past the set! How cool is that!

Day 239: Camping at the John Johnson Farm

Boyd and I had so much fun at our ward camp out this year. The weather was just fantastic! I quite enjoyed this camping experience, except for Boyd kept stealing all the covers in the middle of the night. Every time he would pull on the blanket I would scoot closer and closer. We ended up on 1/4 of the air mattress, on his side, by the time we woke up. It was pretty funny. Boyd had a blast creating all sorts of fun treats using our friend's pie irons. We might have to invest in those some day.  Scott's mom thinks that S'mores should be made with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I would agree. After S'mores, pie iron creations (like apple pie, peach pie, monkey bread, and more), cake in an orange peel, and any other sweet treat, I felt like I was going to explode.  But it was all worth it. I love camping.

P.s. I only got 2 bug bites! Yay, I think that is a new record especially compared to the 13 I got last time.

Day 238: Yarn

I'm running out of things to blog about. We have been so boring this week. So I took a picture of the yarn I have. I'm pretty much planning on making a dozen or so hats for this coming winter. After last years experience I am going to be prepared. Don't worry we won't be boring this weekend. We have a campout coming up tonight and then tomorrow we are hopefully going to another Indians Game, weather permitting. Stay tuned.

Day 237: Asthma

I used to hate running. I always felt like my lungs were getting crushed and I would get dizzy. My allergist told me I had sports induced asthma (about 10 years ago). I didn't really put any thought into that idea and never used my inhaler.  This last week I decided to use it and see what happens. Well, that was quite the experience. I have never been able to run more than 1/4 mile without stopping. Like I said, I would get dizzy and my body would shut down. On Monday I ran a FULL mile without stopping for the first time in my life. It sounds like a wimpy accomplishment, but I am so proud! I also have never been able to run a mile in under 15 minutes. I can still remember my Junior High gym teacher getting mad at me for being so slow. He would always say (in his gruff voice) "run faster Hong!" This week I ran a mile in under 13. Again, it sounds slow, but I'm totally making progress. I now know why people actually like to run. Who da thunk breathing was important.

Day 236: Light Bulb

Our lamp must have problems. Since we've lived here, two light bulbs have  encountered an earlier than expected death. They aren't just the cheap 'o bulbs because our lamp has 3-way capability. They shouldn't just die after 3-4 months.
Two days ago, the lamp was flickering, so Allison went to go check on it. Little did she know that she could have ended up with a scalding filament burrowing into her hand. Good thing this little guy got stuck in the glass. Yikes.

See the little filament. It had Allison's name written all over it.
I should talk to my friend Josh to tell the guys at the lab that the glass is perfectly thick enough. He works at GE. The filament didn't escape.

Day 235: A Bit Early

I know, I know, it is a bit too early to be thinking about Halloween. BUT in the Bills home we start thinking of Halloween mid summer. Boyd and I love making our costumes and thinking about what we are going to be.  We have always made homemade costumes and that can take quite some time, so we get like to get an early start.

So far we have been:
  • Thing 1 & Thing 2
  • Dinosaurs
  • Ninja Turtles (w/Beth & Scott)
This year we have been trying and trying to come up with all sorts of ideas. Here are some of the things we have been thinking of doing: Sock Monkeys, Kermit & Miss Piggy, Cow Boy(d) and Indian, Charlie Brown & Lucy, Slinky Dog, Tooth Fairy & A Tooth, Peas & Carrot, Popeye & Olive Oil, Pandas, Hunter & Deer, Candy Corn (Me) & Candy Pumpkin, and last but not least 3 blind mice (but we would have to carry a stuffed animal mouse).
I won't reveal what we are going to be this year because it is a huge surprise, but I will tell you this, we have a few coupons to Joann Fabric and we will be making many trips. I'm really excited for this year and our costumes that I decided to do a bit of photoshopping this evening and designed this subway word art with a Halloween theme. (Thank you facebook comments for inspiring me to do something Hallweeny)

Day 234: Boyd's Alumni Soccer Game

This is Boyd's almost goal
 See? Almost goal.

I think this kid was scared of Boyd.

3 against 1? And he still dribbled away.

I have never realized how animated Boyd looks when he plays soccer

This is Boyd's bud Josh. Josh is playing for BYU this year!

There were 38 Alumni that played. The oldest guy graduated in 1984!

I'm not quite sure what face he is making here.

GOAL!!!!! Do you see that sweet header?
Good work Boyd!

It totally looks like he is kicking this kid in the back.
I love the look of awe and amazement as Boyd cracks the ball.

Final Score:
Alumni - 2 (Boyd scored one of those!)
Varsity - 4

Better luck next time Alumni!

Day 233: Our Crazy Saturday

3:45 a.m. - Woke up
4:30 a.m. - Left our house
5:00 a.m. - Met at the mall and left for Columbus
7:30 a.m. - Arrived at the Columbus Temple

Seth came to visit this weekend. It was great to see him. He was visiting Detroit (interviewing for residency) and decided to swing down. We are sure glad he did. Boyd had a blast and loves having his buddies around. Seth got dragged into our crazy day, poor guy. It was really fun to hear their crazy college day stories in the car. I always learn a about Boyd when his college roommates are around.

After a very long morning we swung by Shaun and Nicolette's place. We had a delicious lunch and it was so nice to just relax and hang out.

That evening Boyd had his annual alumni soccer game. Picture to come.

We didn't get home till 10:30
Needless to say it was a very long, but very fun day.

Day 232: All These Pregnant Ladies

I have so many friends that are pregnant it is crazy.
Nicolette, above, is due September 4th.
Isn't she just so cute!

This was supposed to be Friday's post, but my friend Jenny had her baby and we watched her kids instead. That's one down, 5 more to go.

Day 231: These are a few of my favorite things

Photography is one of my favorite things. Stampin' up is starting to become one of my favorite things. Why not combine the two? I have tried giving my photography clients all sorts or CD covers and I think I have found my favorite way. It it like an envelope only for a CD and I can customize it. How cute is that! This is my first one. I'm sure I'll get better at it, but I'm still pretty proud of my creativity.

Day 230: Katie the Dog

This is Katie, the dog. She was such a good dog. Of all the shoots I have done, Katie has been the most well behaved dog. She would sit and smile pretty when asked to. Being with her makes me dog hungry. Today when Boyd and I came back from the gym we saw this lady walking her Shih Tzu and I just wanted to pick it up and squeeze it, it was so cute. Some people get "baby hungry" I get "dog hungry."

Day 229: Happy Anniversary

 Happy anniversary!!!
It has been a wonderful 3 years.

This was us there years ago.
(Sorry about the bad picture, I stole if from facebook)

This is us today.  (Literally, I just took this picture 2 seconds ago)
I think there is a big difference.
I can't decide if the biggest difference is us learning to smile with "big eyes"

To celebrate Boyd took me to The Cheesecake Factory. Yum!

Day 228: Happy Anniversary Eve

Tomorrow is our 3rd anniversary. I can't believe we have been married for three whole years. I love being married, especially to Boyd. He is the most wonderful husband anyone could ask for.
I decided to take a picture of our rings because I love the story behind my ring. When I was a little girl I knew that one day when I got engaged, I wanted a ring with three diamonds. As I matured I decided that I wanted three square diamonds. When I met Boyd, we had a casual conversation about him going to New York. While he was there he went to Tiffany & Co. He said he knew what ring he would someday get his wife. At that point I thought to myself "sheesh, he isn't even going to let the girl pick, isn't that her job?!?" I later found out that the ring he was going to get his wife was going to have three diamonds. I guess it was just meant to be.

Day 227: Funny Puppy

This funny puppy (13 year old dog) was at my last shoot. She was super cute, but had one slight problem. She was hard of hearing. No matter how many sounds I made or how many times I called her name I couldn't get her to look. If anyone has any suggestions, about getting a deaf dog to look at a camera, I would love to hear them.  I love this picture because she looks like she is smiling.

Day 226: Hinckley Family Sneak Peek

This family is so cute. I have never met children who were so obedient. They were great and all of them were so photogenic. I can't wait to finish editing their pictures.

Day 225: Jeans, Love 'Em or Hate 'Em?

I love jeans with white stitching.

I hate buying jeans with white stitching because they are so expensive.

I love when jeans fit just right.

I hate trying to find jeans that fit just right.

I love Boyd.

I hate that Boyd can just walk into a store and know which jeans will fit him perfectly based on waist and length.

I love shopping.

I hate shopping for jeans.

Today I did the thing I dread the most in the entire world. Boyd and I went shopping for jeans. I have such short legs, I call them wiener dog legs, I can never find jeans that fit. Boyd is in desperate need of some jeans so we went looking for him. I decided, to look too. A bad idea. I always get so frustrated that none of them fit. One time we spent 6 months looking for jeans. After a long day of searching I found these bad boys! I love them. I love that I got them on Super Sale. I love the white stitching. I love that I'm 2 sizes smaller than I had anticipated. I love that they fit and feel like yoga pants because they are so stretchy. The only thing I don't love is that I now have to hem them.

Just for kicks, I wanted to see what my picture would look like in black and white. I think I might actually like this one better than the color one.

Day 224: YELP!!!

Today Boyd and I decided to spend some time in the sun and practice for Boyd's Alumni Soccer Game coming up next weekend. As we were kicking the ball around Boyd kicked it over the fence. So, naturally he hopped over and kicked the ball back. As the ball was coming back, it hit this tree and out flew a bunch of angry wasps! I have never heard Boyd scream like a girl before. He got stung so fast and wasn't expecting it that his throat constricted and he let out a (very loud) YELP!!! {Boyd later commented that he has been hanging out with me too much and that is why his scream sounded so girly.} Literally, he screamed YELP! He then yelled RUN! Because I'm ridiculously allergic to bees, yellow jackets, wasps, mosquito, anything with a stinger. . . . Poor Boyd is pretty much delirious right now and can't wait to recover from his injuries. He has 3 or 4 sting marks on his elbows and one on his bum (haha, just like a cartoon.)

So after the dramatic event, we pulled up next to the tree and took a picture of the wasp's nest from inside our car. As we were sitting in our car a bunch of wasps attacked it. We could hear them thumping against the windows, the doors, the roof, and windshield. I was scared and didn't dare roll down the window. That is why this picture is so far away.

p.s. "Do you see that sky today? Talk about blue"- The Emperor's New Groove. I love days like today, warm sun, cool breeze, no clouds. I wish every day could be like today.

Day 223: Boyd's Textbook Of Pathology

Boyd found this in the library the other day when he was studying for Path. Haha.

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Day 222: Crazy Storm

When Boyd and I were at BYU people would always complain how Utah had bipolar weather. They should move to Ohio. Then they would retract their statements about Utah weather. Today we had blustery winds, pouring rain, giant hail, then nothing. The hail was "bigger than peas" that would bounce off the ground. I was so worried for our car. A few months ago Katie, Boyd's sister, got a horrible surprise when golf ball sized hail dented her car. Since then, I have been paranoid. Boyd ran outside and took this picture with his new phone.

After our crazy hail experience this is what the sky looked like.

I think Boyd's phone did a pretty decent job taking these pictures.

Then we came home to this in our parking spot. This is the worst flooding our parking lot has experienced.
Remember Day 133? Thank goodness I had my rain boots!
