Day 305: Happy Halloween

 Happy Halloween!
Every year I am so amazed at Boyd's carving skills. He always scares me and just stabs the poor pumpkin to death and carves it like a mad man. Somehow his pumpkin always turns out to be so cool.

Yesterday we carved pumpkins with some of our good friends. Boyd's pumpkin is on the left, Jack had a Pickachu pumpkin (also impressive, it really does look like Pikachu), Sally wanted a princess crown pumpkin (with birthday candles?), and my is the pumpkin with the face.

My funny face pumpkin. Didn't really feel the creative juices flowing when I was carving, so I went traditional.

Boyd's super awesome ghost pumpkin. Correction: he didn't actually have a pumpkin. It was a gourd. A very stinky gourd to be exact. It still looks cool, but it sure was stinky!

Today we went down to Boyd's parents. We decided to paint pumpkins. Who knew that puffy paint would paint pumpkins so well!

I was feeling a bit more creative today.

Day 304: The Buck Stops Here

We got out of car tonight and saw this guy strutting in front of us. I went running after him from a safe distance to capture a picture. Of all the deer we see everyday, this is the first time a buck has shown up in our complex. I was excited and Allison screamed.
He payed me no attention even though he new I was following him. He looked right at me several times( I followed him for a good 50 ft), but not once did he change from his moseying pace. He was a much more majestic sight than the does and fawns we usually see. He even took the time to stop and play with our neighbors wind chimes for a good 30 seconds.

Day 303: Cute Chicken?

Call me crazy but I think this is so cute! Tonight Boyd and I went to our favorite wing place, Quaker Steak & Lube. We ordered some boneless wings to go and they brought it to our table in this!

Seriously, I think this is such a cute idea! Inside were our little wings all nestled in their little spots. Sometimes I call things cute and then Boyd asks "Is is cute because it is little or is is cute because it is cute?" I think this is cute because it is cute. Although, the box is little (the size of a small carton box) it is still cute and not just because it is little.

Day 302: Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head

Happy Halloween! This year Boyd wanted to be Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. It was a long 4 days of working in my little Chinese sweat shop, aka our family room. Boyd came up with the idea and design and I turned it into costumes. Boyd's dad drew the scaled pattern for the face pieces and from there I took over. Boyd wanted it to be realistic, so I made pillow like pieces for the face parts and put cardboard behind it so the puff would go the correct direction. Then I quilted right through the cardboard. The face parts had Velcro behind them so we can mix n' match pieces. My favorite part was the bum pocket in the back. Just like the real potato head we had the bum pocket to put our parts into. We sure do love Halloween!

Day 301: Yellow Fall

I feel like this fall has been very yellow. Yellow as in all the trees are yellow and there is this yellow glow that occurs when the sun shines through the trees, if the sun is shining. Anyway, it is very pretty and I think I absolutely love Ohio in the fall. I quickly took this picture while we were up in Kirtland as we were walking around. So pretty and the yellow really does look like this.

Day 300: Baby Claire's Baby Blessing

On Sunday we got to join Shaun and Nicolette for the blessing of their beautiful, baby girl Claire. She is so adorable. I am so grateful for such wonderful friends. Aren't they just the cutest little family?

Day 299: Kirtland

On  Saturday Jon, me, Boyd, baby Claire, Nicolette, Shaun, Jess, baby Eli, Mel, and Caden all went to Kirtland. This was the first time I had actually been inside the buildings. I have gone to Kirtland numerous time this year but haven't officially taken the tour. It was really neat to actually hear the stories that go along with these great historical sights.

Yup, this door is the original door.

 At the saw mill

Boyd and I were very impressed with Caden's ability to work a camera. He could turn it on, turn it off, and even put it back in the bag where it belonged.

Boyd was trying to keep baby Claire warm and Caden entertained.

I think we all felt like this by the end of the day.

Jump!

Day 298: Kirtland Temple

While we were visiting the Kirtland temple I decided to snap this quick picture. Kinda fun. More Kirtland to come soon!

Day 297: Cute Boy Sleepover 2011

At BYU these boys started the infamous tradition of "cute boy sleepovers." When they were freshmen, they would bring all of their mattresses into one dorm room and have a cute boy sleepover. When they lived in Monticello, they would cover the floor with all their mattresses and have a cute boy sleepover. When they lived in Clubhouse, they would drag all their mattresses outside on the patio and have a cute boy sleepover.  Now that they are all grown up, some married, some with kids, these boys still had their cute boy sleepover. I guess we can't call it a cute boy sleepover anymore. For those of you cute boys (and wives) who couldn't make it for this one, you are more than welcome to join us next time.

Haha, I love this picture.
I told them to do something funny
and this is what I got.
POKE!
Notice Jess's awkward hand. . .
(yes, the one all the way over on Jon's shoulder)

Even the babies joined in on the fun.
Can you believe that these two were born on the same day?

A big thank you to our fantastic chef Shaun "Shon"

Day 296: Pumpkin Picking

While we were in Amish Country we decided to pick out our pumpkins.
Boyd really liked the albino pumpkins. Which really aren't pumpkins at all, they are gourds. I think Boyd looks like Charlie brown in his little pumpkin patch.

p.s. Do you see how BIG these stinkin' pumpkins are?!?
Seriously, this pumpkin is almost as big as me!
I picked out a baby pumpkin just to compare.

Boyd is amazing. I said I wanted that pumpkin and he somehow got it for me.
 It was so far away!
 it was the perfect pumpkin!
Squared even joined in on the fun and this is the pumpkin he would have picked.
Boyd was so happy he got his white pumpkin.

Day 295: Amish Country

We had such a fun filled weekend. Boyd's roommate, Jon Johnson, came for a visit and we decided to give him a tour of Ohio.

Our weekend started out by going to Amish Country.

We kept getting stuck behind buggies.
Boyd said that he had never seen so many buggies out

This buggy even had blinky lights. . .

Our first stop was at our favorite place, Heini's

 Ahhh, love the cheese

This is my favorite section. Where they have the crazy flavors of cheese like chocolate mint, chocolate peanut butter, orange pineapple,  blueberry cheesecake, rainbow sherbet, and pumpkin cheesecake. Of course they have other cheese, like cheddar, Swiss, Gouda, etc. But I love this section most of all.

Rainbow sherbet is one of my personal favorites.

Our next stop was at Hershberger's. LOVE IT!
I have been craving Amish Kettle Corn for so long and finally got it.

At Hershberger's we got to meet BIG BEN!
Boy is he BIG!

Then we got to pet some other animals.
This guy really liked my camera
and practically jumped the fence just to see what I was holding.

I was mean and told Boyd to pull this poor baby goat out of the milk canister just so I could take a picture of him. He was so cute and so tiny!

I don't know where these Amish people get their animals from, but apparently they had a zonkey (zebra donkey) at their place. Only in Ohio will I see Zonkies.

On our way out of Amish country Boyd spotted this sign. Our Grandma Miller is famous for her noodles. We just had to take a picture of Mrs. Miller's noodles, just for Grandma Miller.
