Lily the Speedy Super Dog

What happens to Lily after she gets her bath?

Happy 24th of July

For the 24th of July we always go to Gning Gning's house. She was so happy to have us! I love Gning Gning so much!

I was thinking about it and next year, we might not be celebrating the 24th of July! How insane is that! I keep forgetting that Pioneer day is only a Utah thing. One adjustment added to the list of many adjustments I will be making in the next little bit.

It was great, we all played Mahjong! Amber, Victoria's roommate, kicked all of our butts! She is insanely good at Mahjong and she is not even Asian. I love playing with Gning Gning because somehow all of us get a chance to win, wink wink.

Gning Gning knows I need a little extra help.

My favorite part about tonight was Gning Gning was trying to explain how people bet using Mahjong, the game. She then proceeded to tell me a funny story about when I was a little kid. "When you were little Yea Yea needed to pull your tooth because it was loose, you said 'no' he said I'll give you a dollar 'NO' ok, two dollars 'ok'" In her cute Gning Gning voice I love the way she says No and just drags it out. I love my Gning Gning so much! The funny thing is I can Still remember this story and not letting Yea Yea pull out my lose tooth unless I got $2 not just $1.

Gning Gning and I are waiting for the fireworks to start.

Happy Pioneer Day!

All for the Kiddies

For those of you who do not want TMI STOP reading now! For those of you who do not care and wish to know more about our personal life, keep on readin'

For a while there Boyd and I have been trying to start our family. After a few months of no luck we decided to get some regular check ups to make sure everything was going ok. I also noticed that I have been having severe cramps the past 8 months or so. So we started going to the doctor and asking questions. One thing that started coming up was the possibility of endometriosis. This thought kept sticking in the back of our heads so we decided to do more digging. After being poked and prodded and poked some more, we finally talked to the doctors about endometriosis. Dr. Willmore at the BYU health center said he is almost positive that is what I have. He told us about a few options and one of them was getting a laparoscopy. What a laparoscopy is are small incisions made near the belly button and one near my pelvic bone. Seemed simple enough, they go in, and if they find something they will cauterize everything that they find. (side note: I just googled endometriosis surgery and grossed myself out!) So Wednesday morning at 5 a.m. I went in for surgery. I am very thankful for my wonderful mom who took the day off to take me in. While they were prepping me, it just just my luck and the nurse that was doing my I.V. she told me she always makes people bleed. (By the way, the first time I got my blood drawn was by a nurse who was drawing blood for the first time). Anyway, I got all set up and then they wheeled me in to surgery. I had been so worried about a catheter being put in me I asked the nurse wheeling me in if I was going to get one. I was dreading her next words, but she just laughed at me and said only if I wanted one! Whew! What a relief. The only thing I remember was looking at the anesthesiologist put something in my I.V. Then I was out. I don't even remember closing my eyes. Then I remember waking up in the recovery area. I remember trying so hard to pull of the finger heart monitor. I tried and tried so hard but it wouldn't come off. It was super cold and I kept shivering and could not stop. I also remember trying to lift my head and wondering where my goofy hair net had gone, I had it when I went into surgery but now it was gone. Then I fell back asleep. Woke up cold again and my mom was there. The nurse kept asking me if I was ok and kept injecting me with pain killers like morphine and other stuff I can't remember. When she gave me too much all I remember is feeling nauseous. I honestly don't know why people do drugs. Anyway, had to go to the bathroom so my mom and the nurse took me. I was wearing really weird underwear! I also felt like a 2 year old because my mom had to help me. Good thing she loves me. Anyway, enough of that stuff.

What they did find: When I came out of surgery, Dr. Glenn told my mom that they did find endyometriosis and it was a lot more than he was expecting. Luckily they were able to get rid of all of it but had to make a third incision to do so. I'm just glad I'm not some crazy person having cramps all the time and that there was an actual reason why I was having cramps.

To make a long story short I made it home and fell asleep. Then Megan did my hair and we went off to her bridal shower. Got sick there, fell asleep in the bathtub and went home and slept. Been sleeping since then and feeling sore.

To sum it all up, I hope that we will be able to have kids soon. The doctors say that we have about 6 months before it comes back. One day, when our kids are naughty, I'm going to show them this blog and the picture from my surgery so they know what I went through to have them. haha.

These are my tiny stitches.

Oh Provo

This weekend I was supposed to finish my independent study class. Somehow that never gets done. Katie and Cody came over and were taking Megan to float the Provo River. Somehow I got sucked into going. But it was totally worth it! It started out as nice and relaxing and then. . . dun dun dun, just kidding. It was rather uneventful. Except for the part when Melanie almost got sucked under the raft and drowned! We were just moseying along and were supposed to get out of the river when we got to the bridge. Apparently 3 people have had to go to the hospital this year because they hit this bridge. Well, sometimes it is hard to steer and we ended up going straight at it. We hit is with a big thud then suddenly Melanie was gone! She was in the front and somehow got knocked off! We were all so worried that she was going to get sucked under the raft but she was ok. Besides that and the freezing cold water it was a ton of fun! My favorite part about today was when Katie asked us if one of us had lost their flip flop. She then proceeded to grab a flip flop that had been floating around, only to realize when she turned it around that it was all moldy on the other side! I was half expecting a rotting foot to be attached to that thing it was so disgusting! As soon as we all realized what it was and what it looked like we all went "EWW" and Katie dropped that thing so fast! I'm super glad I was a slacker and went with Katie, Cody, Melanie, and Megan to go and float the Provo River.

Moving

Yup, that is right, we are moving. This is Boyd and my first major move of our marriage. Boyd left on Tuesday and will be gone for 7 weeks! ahh! He is moving out with Shaun and Nicolette. Oh yeah, we are moving to Cleveland Ohio, where Boyd will be going to school. All of last week we spend every free minute trying to pack up our little apartment. Who knew such a small place could hold so much stuff! The worst part was Sunday night when we were trying to pack the kitchen! What a nightmare. At 1:30 Boyd and I decided that it was ok to just start throwing things in boxes. To make matters worse, we thought our move out day was today, July 3rd, but I got a call on Wednesday saying that the inspector was at our apartment and for some reason all of our stuff was still there! Of course it was, our move out date wasn't until today, but apparently it was the night of the 29th. Luckily my wonderful parents came down and helped me clean out our entire apartment, along with the wonderful relief society! I'm so very grateful for all of them and their willingness to help us!

This is Boyd loading up our 26 ft truck! That thing was HUGE! My favorite quote from Nicolette is "It has 6 wheels!"

Ever wonder what a packed up crazy messy wymount apartment looks like.

I'm really excited to be moving on with our lives, but at the same time I'm so sad. I have loved living in Wymount, our first little home. Thanks for all the good times Wymount.

Manti Pageant

Last night we had the fun opportunity to go down to Manti with my family. We haven't been to the Manti Pageant in years and thought it would be fun to go before Boyd and I leave Utah. It was really cute because my mom packed us all sorts of fun snackies for the trip down. It was great! I haven't had a capri sun in years. Playing games was super fun, but then we got to the Pageant part. . . It was really (I'm going to try to put it nicely) Weird! The story line was really confusing and then the narration was extremely absurd! Boyd and I keep quoting it and every time we just end up laughing because throughout the pageant they would use phrases like "spiritual ecstasy" or "economic utopia". Boyd's favorite part is when they would narrate what the characters, mainly Joseph Smith, are doing for example. "climbing, kneeling, bending, burying, covering, stooping, gripping the fireplace" were all words used as the character was doing the action. My personal favorite part was at the end of the Pageant when the couple is "reunited" the first thing that came into my head was ZOMBIE! The girl was trying to put out her arms to welcome her husband, but since she was on a really steep hill she was kinda waddling down and it looked like a zombie!
Overall it was fun. We had a great time spending quality time with my family. I'm super glad we had this opportunity to go before we move to Ohio.

"hands on waist means 'I love you'"

It was 29 years ago that my parents decided that they wanted to spend eternity together and it was at the Manti Pageant that they fell in love.

I HATE the DMV

I got my big girl driver's license today! Can I just say I hate the DMV. It is almost impossible to renew a driver's license these days! You have to bring in your whole life! Literally, birth certificate, SS card, marriage certificate, two forms of proof of address (which I think is STUPID!) Everything Boyd and I do is online, banking, school, bills, etc. Plus, everything is in Boyd's name. . . I was in a pickle. I didn't have two forms of address. Now I have to send myself 2 letters to “prove” I live at my parent’s address because I was using their address as my permanent address. Anyway, to get to my point, the guy at the DMV didn't warn me that he was about to take my picture, took it and my left eye was half closed! ARRRGH! Now I have a stupid picture on my driver's license! I hate the DMV! I'm just glad I get a new picture and license when we move to Ohio.

Hiking The Y

Boyd and I have been wanting to hike the Y for quite sometime. I have been at BYU for 2 1/2 years and STILL haven't hiked it! For the past 2 years we kept telling ourselves that we need to hike the Y. Obviously we hadn't gotten around to it. Tonight, at 8:00 p.m. Boyd said, wanna hike the Y tonight, and I said Sure! So we did! Finally! It's a good thing too because Boyd is moving all of our stuff in a week and won't be back till my graduation and Megan's wedding. Anyway, to tell you a little bit about our adventure. We didn't leave our house till 8:45ish and started our little hike around 9. I had never hiked the Y and didn't realize that it wasn't easy. After the 2nd switch back I was done! For some reason my back was killing me and I could hardly walk. But I was determined. This is our only chance to hike it and I wasn't going to just give up. Boyd is amazing and is the most patient person I know! He stuck with my whining, complaining, whimpering, crying, waddling, and everything else I put him through. He even offered to give me a piggy back ride! Boyd is the strongest person I have ever met. After a lot of pain (If you ask Boyd he will probably tell you that I was being a pain in the butt), we finally made it to the top! Go us! I'm just glad we finally did it!

This was our first attempt to take a picture.

Second Attempt

Boyd, Why are your eyes almost closed? "IT'S SO BRIGHT! AHHH"

"Is that better?" - Boyd
"Yes, but now we have to turn the camera the other way so you don't keep cutting me off"- Allison

There we go, that's better!

"My eyes are closed!!!!"- Allison

This happen about 3 times before some random guy who had been hiking all day came to our rescue! The random hikey guy had been all the way to the top of the mountain. I couldn't believe it! We, I mean, I barely made it to the Y. I couldn't even imagine going all the way to the top of the mountain! What a crazy guy. But we are glad he came strolling by because now we have a good picture of us!

Ever wonder what Provo, Utah looks like at night?

Fishy, Fishy, Fishy

Saturday was Free Fishing Day. Nathan has been planning on this day for months. It is kinda a tradition for our family to go up to the Ranger Station up in Midway, so we decided to keep this little tradition going this year. When we got there the whole pond was lined with little kids everywhere! It was really funny because Nathan kept saying "what do you want to do" since the pond was ridiculously full. Boyd, Megan and I all kept saying "Um" and didn't give him a real response, so as he was pulling over to park Nathan asked again "what do you want to do, do you want to stay or go somewhere else?" and then as he was stepping out of the car to get the fishing poles he once again said "So what do you want to do?" Silly boy haha he was totally planning on staying at the kiddie pond the whole time. So we stayed. After the first half hour Boyd caught the first fish!
After Boyd's first fish we all had hope that we were going to catch something. We thought wrong. We fished and fished and fished and after 2 1/2 hours and nothing. Megan and I got bored and the pond cleared out because of some drawing going on, so we moved to the middle of the pond. After we moved I hooked two little fishies, but they kept getting away. But they were sure biting and jumping in that area so I ran back to tell Boyd and Nathan to come over with us.

After Boyd and Nathan came over to the middle of the pond we just kept catching fish left and right. Boyd caught another one right away!
(It literally took him about 2 casts and he caught one!)

Nathan and I were just as lucky! We were catching fish every 3-5 minutes! Here are pictures of a few of the fish we caught in our luck spot!

Lily would get super excited when I would catch something! She would run up to the flailing fish and get slapped in the face. Even though she got slapped every single time, this still didn't stop her from attaching the fishies every time they came flying out of the water.

Boyd caught a whopper! He was so proud, as he should be because he was catching the most fish out of all of us and they just happen to be the biggest ones!

Poor Megan still hadn't caught anything ALL DAY LONG! She did not want a repeat of last year. She was the only one who didn't catch anything last year and she was determined not to have this happen again. But after 4 hours of hot blazing sun, casting and reeling again and again, and still nothing Megan was starting to lose hope. We all felt bad and offered to let her reel in ours as we caught them, but she was determined to hook one all by her widdle self. After Nathan's 20 minute reeling lesson, switching poles with every single person, she still hadn't caught anything. Finally Boyd told her to cast to her left. She tried and failed because she couldn't aim to her left. She tried over and over and as soon as her spinner hit the spot where Boyd had been telling her to cast to she got a bite! "Luckily the thing made it to shore. With her luck I was sure it wasn't going to make it all the way" - Boyd.

Can you see the excitement in her face!

Lets take a closer look at Megan's lovely fish. . .

Free fishing day was a blast, minus all the sunburns. . .

Welcome Home Christian

Hurray! After a long winter semester Christian finally came home from his internship at Disneyworld. I must say I am pretty jealous he got to spend a whole semester at Disneyworld. We are all super glad he is back!
Boyd and I made this fun sign for Christian the night before he came home. I'm so proud of Boyd for cutting out the Mickey heads.
Lily also joined in the celebration by wearing her Mini ears! She looked so cute!

Lily is the princess

Floral Design

Spring Term I decided I am in desperate need of a fun, yet credit packed class. You can't go wrong with floral design. Here is what I have so far!

The first week we did wrap bouquets. This is just a picture of part of the bouquet that Boyd took.

The second week we did cube designs. I really like the way this purple cube picture came out. It looks like it could be in a magazine! Thank goodness for a good camera and photoshop!

This week we did a spring design using floral foam. What an adventure. The tulips didn't like me very much and kept going in all sorts of places. But I really like the way this one turned out! Personally this one is my favorite so far!

This picture is my favorite! At first I thought button mums looked cheap and silly, but I decided to take a picture of one and doctor it up, as usual, and now this is my favorite picture ever!
