Halloween - Before going out in the freezing rain.

Mom and Dad Bills even played along. - Love them!

Ok, lets talk about these costumes for a bit.

They have pretty much consumed my life for the past 2 weeks.

We have been staying up until 2 am trying to finish them in time.

First of all, Can you tell what Boyd is wearing? Yes, those are scrubs.

Second: This helmet. . .

Boyd wanted to make it himself.

It didn't start out so hot. . .

Then after round two we gave up.

I ended up finding an army hat at the party store for $2. We spray painted it and Boyd added the foam touches to make it look like a helmet. He rocks!

I crochet the blue beanie and the eyes are foam.

The nose is a pink homemade pom pom. (have you ever tried using a fork to make a pom pom? try it sometime, I think you'll like it!)

His cape ties - Yellow yarn that was braided

Boyd would stand behind me and braid above my head because the yarn was too long.

I think it's every Boy[d]'s dream to be a super hero, right?

Lets talk big bird.

I made my dress with 3 t-shirts.

(4 including the white one I used for a little extra length)

Boyd painted all the eye balls.

He used a CD hole as a template and painted the ping pong balls.

Then we used mod podge to cover the paint

I added foam to my eye balls and used part of my feather boa to finish the rest

The best part of my costume was a GENIUS idea from Boyd

The stripes on my tights are Coban (self adherent wrap) from 3M. When you go to give blood and they wrap your arm with that sticky stretchy, bandage stuff.... AWESOME! It pays to be a medical professional

I crocheted Oscar's had during nap time at school

The eye brows were fake fur sewn on.

The trash can was just silver fabric I had lying around and we quilted it to look like a garbage can.

All of the monster head bands started out like this:

I crocheted a rectangle and wrapped it around the head bands.

The yarn I used was called Glitter Eyelash. You can find it at Hobby Lobby.

Glued on some eye balls add a pom pom nose and you have a monster.

TA DA! Sesame Street

I may have gone a bit over board this year, but I feel like Halloween is the one time a year I get to bust out my crafty side. Whew! Good thing it only comes once a year.

I love working as a team with my awesome husband who is just as crafty as I am.
