Day 221: It's Been A While

Pretty sure it's been a while since we have done towels. Today was one of those days where I felt like we were doing laundry ALL day long. Plus we had been doing laundry all weekend, but ran out of quarters so it had to wait till today. This is the end of it, finally. What a good feeling.

Day 220: Flo's 6 months

Seriously, can Florence be any cuter? I'm so happy I got to take pictures of my beautiful baby niece. I love her to pieces. Hello happy baby!

Day 219: Boyd's New Phone

Boyd has been wanting a new phone for a very Very VERY long time now. As you can see the phone on the left, his old phone, is missing the flip cover, looks old and worn, and has a baby screen. But Boyd loved his old phone very much. He loved the size. Every time he would whip out that puppy people would ask "is that your phone?!?" That thing was tiny. Now he has a giant brick. I laughed when he told me that he wanted the HTC because it reminds me of Saved by the Bell when Zack Morris would pull out his brick phone.
This whole phone situation has been quite the experience. Boyd has been looking for months for a new phone and hasn't found one that he liked. He ran into this HTC phone and decided that was the one he wanted. Only we couldn't afford it. It was supposed to be $100+ and I couldn't justify paying that much. Then Boyd found a deal at Radio Shack for $60 (Plus a few fees.) For some reason I was grumpy that day and didn't let Boyd buy it. Thanks to our favorite store, Costco, we got a steal of a deal. It was $30 with no activation fee. I love Costco and Boyd loves his new phone. I like it too because we can play all sorts of games on it and it is just like having an itouch, only we got it for $30. A special thanks to both of our parents who currently pay for our phone bills. What would we do without you?

Day 218: For A Worthy Cause

Today I donated blood for the first time. I have never met the weight requirements in the past (which are ridiculous. I'm pretty hefty and I still barely met the requirements today.) I was terrified. A while back I had to get my blood drawn. I was traumatized because of that experience. It was my first time getting my blood taken and the nurse's first time taking blood from a real patient. Needless to say I was a bit hesitant. So, what was my motivation? Boyd heard from a friend, from school that if you gave blood they would give you a free ticket to Cedar Point, the amusement park with the biggest, tallest, fastest roller coasters in America (if not the world.) Am I a bad person?

My Arm
I was so worried when I got there. They were running the iron test on me and told me that I didn't have enough iron in my blood. I even cheated and took an iron pill last night, and ate as many irony foods as I could. I was still way under the requirement. The only thought that ran through my head was "but I want my ticket." Luckily, my left finger decided to have enough iron in it and I passed the test. I'm so glad we got our Cedar Point tickets. I mean, I'm so glad we gave blood today, after all, it is a worthy cause.

Day 217: Bloo Bloo Bloop

Cue the Mario theme song.
We came home from the gym this afternoon and found these lovely specimens. The moment I saw them, I thought of Super Mario Bros. and the power mushroom that makes Mario big. Allison thought they look like the mushrooms from fantasia that dance around, so cue the Hungarian music as well.

Here's mine. I tried to make it look Giant in honor of it's mario powers.

Here's Allison's. It's more artsy and cool looking.

A note from Allison:
"Boyd is always right. When we saw the shroom he told me I better hurry and take a picture of it. I scoffed at him and said 'if they were going to mow the lawn they would have already done it this morning.' When we went to Costco, later this afternoon, sure enough, they had mowed the lawn, and our Mario/dancing shroom was gone. Boyd is always right."

Day 216: IKEA Shelf

Yesterday Boyd and I assembled our new shelf. I desperately needed a place for my crafting projects and sewing machine. Boyd found this shelf and it actually fit perfectly on our fireplace. What a great space saver. I love this shelf, mostly because it also matches the rest of our furniture. While I was looking through the assembly instructions I saw this funny picture. I was the person with the hammer and Boyd was the pencil man. Together we built the shelf and it looks just smashing.

Day 215: Jess, Melissa, and Caden Sneak Peek

These pictures were so much fun to take, minus the humidity. Pretty sure Melissa and I were both dripping with sweat by the time we had finished. I'm so happy Boyd was with me. Caden does not like getting his picture taken, so Boyd would throw a ball at him and make him laugh. As I was sorting through these pictures I would giggle because there was a random floating ball about to hit them.

I promise Caden likes to be "bonked." He is such a funny boy. Every time Boyd would throw the ball he would say "bonk bonk bonk!" If you ask him to bonk your head, he will come up and put his wee bitty forehead on yours and say "bonk!" What a cutie.

Day 214: The Little Thief

On Saturday, We started off the day with a hardy breakfast. Caden had already eaten his Peanut Butter Crunch before Jess and I started into our bowls of Lucky Charms. Jess doesn't like to eat Lucky Charms with milk (weirdo), but I don't even think that milk would have stopped this little thief.

He chomped away at his daddy's marshmallows, picking them out one by one with a fury. There was no stopping that kid. Jess was still attempting to finish, but before he could, Caden had eaten every last mallow. He's a sly one. Even when he knew he was caught, it didn't slow him down.

Lunch wasn't any different. Only this time Allison's plate was the victim of Caden's sneaky thievery. He started out cautious and slow, but quickly picked up his pace. The fries didn't stand a chance against this little guy. He scarfed every last one within his reach.

Day 213: Cincinnati Museum

This is the Cincinnati Museum. It was built in an old train terminal.
Caden had so much fun in the Children's Museum.

Boyd and Jess also had lots of fun in the Children's Museum

Aww, look how good they are at coloring. How fun is this!

We had a ton of fun at the museum. We got to see dinosaurs, go through a cave, walk through an iceberg, play in the children's museum, look at rocks, and much more.

Day 212: Cincinnati Reds Game

On our mini vacation to Cincinnati, Jess, Melissa, and Caden took us to a Cincinnati Reds Game. We had so much fun. It was Caden's first baseball game and he was the most well behaved child I have ever met. We had so much fun with Jess and Melissa. Boyd misses Jess so much. I'm glad he got to have boy time with his best bud. We had so much fun this weekend we didn't want it to end. In fact, we had too much fun that I didn't get around to blogging. But it was all worth it.

Boyd was too excited about something to look while we were trying to take a picture

It was really cool how the field was on the winding banks of the Ohio river.

Boyd found this sign with his birthday on it
