Day 133: A man, his truck, and his dog

Blogger was down for maintenance yesterday, and it totally threw me out of my groove. Oh well.

What I didn't tell you about Mothers' Day is that Dad got a new toy. It's nice.

Two of Boyd's dad's best purchases:

Day 132: Celebrating with Sushi

Today was Boyd's last final! HURRAY! He just completed the hardest semester he will ever have to take in podiatry school. *Whew* What did we do to celebrate? We went out for sushi. Yum!

The sushi below is called the super dreamy roll. It really is dreamy. Oh my. This is my absolute favorite. I can't even describe how yummy this thing is! I love watching the lady make it. Especially when she pulls our her gigantic blow torch to make the crispy topping crunchy.

The sushi house we always go to is called Ohashi. We love it there. The people are so nice! To give you an example of just how nice they are our waitress would literally stand 10 feet away and practically watched us take every bite! She was so funny. Boyd purposely took a really slow last bite. As soon as she saw the piece go into his mouth, and that the plate was empty, she came running over to ask if we were done so she could clear the plate away. I honestly don't think I got two sips of water in before she would come and refill my water. It was awesome! My favorite part was when she was waiting for our sushi to be made. She was watching the workers and thought they had finished and I saw her flinch and make a movement towards the sushi counter to get our sushi but since it wasn't done she would step back to her waiting position. The second it touched the counter (I honestly don't even think it did touch the counter) she was there to grab it and bring it to our table. Talk about service.

Day 131: Popcorn Popping

I love pink. Can trees really be pink?
Apparently here in Ohio they can be!

All growing up we would sing "Popcorn Popping" in primary. I had NO clue what they were talking about! Why would popcorn grow on trees. . . . In Utah there are only pine trees or trees with leaves. I have always questioned this song till I moved to Ohio. Wow.

This is a beautiful pink tree in front of Boyd's parent's house. I love it! It's pink and pretty.

Spring has really brought me such a nice surprise!

Day 130: The fleurs.

Tulip season, yay! This past weekend a bunch of our friends went to Holland, MI to check out the cool windmills and tulips. The pictures they took were rad. Just like a little Holland.
We took some pictures of tulips at my parents house. They're still pretty, even though they aren't from Holland. I would love to go to Holland in the spring someday to see the tulips and windmills. I'll put it on the list.

I didn't even touch this picture with any post-production editing:

Day 129: Happy Mother's Day

Thank you to both of my Moms for being so wonderful!
We got to spend the afternoon with Mom Bills and I'm so impressed with how many phone calls she got! Wow! I've never seen a phone ring that. She is very loved!

Happy Mother's Day!

Funny story from church today:
Today our in our church things were being switched around with leaders and such. The people who normally would stand in the hall to lend me assistance were unable to help me out with potty breaks. Two of my girls said that they had to go potty. So I took my whole class down to the bathrooms to go potty. The boys ran to the boy bathroom and at that very moment I wish there were two of me. I quickly grabbed another teacher and asked her to go to the boys bathroom and pull them out and watch them for me. I then proceeded to enter the girls bathroom where I had to hold the door open with my foot to keep an eye on the rest of my class. Then one of the girls told me her bathroom stall would not lock, so there I was all stretched out try to hold the door open with my foot and hold the stall door closed. Then the girl in the middle stall told me she needed help holding her dress. . . No biggie. I just leaned forward, holding on to dear life with my left hand on the stall, foot in the door, and helping my girl out with her dress. Then it happen. . . The girl I was helping told me "my bum is wet" and as I looked down the toilet was overflowing! AHHHH! Sometimes I wish I had a camera on my at all times, because I wish I could have seen the expression on my face! So with my right hand I pulled her up off of the overflowing toilet, still holding the stall and the door and very carefully placed here in a spot that wasn't covered in toilet water. *sigh*

Also, our lesson was on keeping the sabbath day holy. I kept asking the kids what day of the week it was and their response was "MOTHERS DAY!!!" no no no, what comes after Monday? "Tuesday" What comes after Tuesday? "Wednesday!" right, now what come after Saturday? "MOTHERS DAY!!!" Uggg, I couldn't get it into their little heads that TODAY was SUNDAY (and mother's day) Talk about one of the hardest lessons I have ever had to teach!

Day 128: Maeghan's Family Pictures

What a busy business weekend. I stayed over at Beth and Scott's last night and shared a room with Hi Hi Heidi. She is hilarious! I tried to bore her and read the scriptures and I kept telling her we are going to read about Alma. She kept repeating Alma back to me over and over again. She then proceeded to run over to her bookshelf and grabbed an Elmo book!

I had a shoot today in Strongsville which was perfect because I was already at Beth and Scott's and the shoot was only 2 minutes away.

Here is a sneak peek of Maeghan's family

Day 127: My First Wedding Rehearsal

Ok, I missed a day. But I have a really good excuse! On Friday I went to work, had a wedding dress rehearsal to take pictures at, then off to stamp camp, then. . .
Let me rewind. Boyd decided to go on the father/sons camp-out this weekend. Since we don't have kids Boyd's dad went with him!
I have never spent the night all by my self and got a bunch of anxiety. My jaw is killing me today because I was unknowingly clenching it for the majority of yesterday. Anyway I came home from stamp camp and couldn't get out of my car because I was too scared. There I was whimpering in my car when I heard my phone go off and that was the key to my salvation. Beth and Scott so graciously let me stay at their place last night (funny stories to come). So in my haste to get over to their place I didn't blog last night.

Here's a sneak peek of the wedding party

This was my first ever non-LDS wedding anything. I was really nervous but it was a fun opportunity to experience a different culture/religion's views. This family was super fun and super nice! I can't wait to get the rest of their pictures done

Day 126: Perfectly Pink Pillowcase

There are officially 22 days till my 22nd birthday! So in honor of that I decided to post my perfectly pink pillowcase I made a few months ago just for this very special month. I love May. It's not too hot and it's not cold anymore. The sun was shining today and that makes it a good day.

Bills family tradition: making pillowcases for holidays. I have taken this little tradition overboard and actually made a pillowcase for every month of the year. Even months where there aren't holidays, like May. However my birthday is in May so I had set out to find the perfect birthday pillowcase. I knew I wanted something pink and something that looked birthdayish.

What did I find?

A SPARKLY pink cupcake/birthday cake fabric! Can it get any better? I think not.

Day 125: Paper Flowers

So even though Boyd is not Asian he is more of an Asian that I am. He is so much better at origami then me. Most of the time when I try to do origami I end up crumpling up the paper and throwing it at Boyd for him to finish it because his always looks way better than mine. On Sunday he taught me how to make these super cute paper flowers!
(shh I'm sending these to my mom for mother's day since she is a florist)

Day 124: Nursing Covers

Congratulations to me, I finished my first project with my new sewing machine! My mom was impressed because apparently I was the girl who never finished projects growing up. Now just look at me!

So a while back my boss was trying to nurse her baby while fiddling with a blanket and it just looked awkward. I told her that they made nursing covers and she should check them out. She told me that they were just way too expensive and she'll just deal. So I offered to make her one and voila! Super easy! She even asked me to make two more, one for her sister in-law and one more for a friend. Yes, I did copy the hooter hider idea but what is even more ironic is the fabric that I had picked out. I went to Joanns, picked out something cute and went home and looked up the website. On the hooter hider website they were talking about their "designer fabric" blah blah blah. . To my surprise I had unknowingly picked out the same fabric they used! I even like the fabric so much while I was in the store I decided to buy a little extra and make a skirt. (funny story: about three weeks ago in church one of the little girls I teach was actually wearing a skirt with the same fabric) I guess it must be a popular print!

Here's the pattern

Materials:
  • 1 yard of fabric
  • D rings.
  • 12 " of Corset Boning
Measurements:
  • Cut the main piece of fabric into a 26"x38" (Finished product = 24x36)
  • The first neck strap is a 30"x 3" strip
  • The second neck strap is a 10" x 3" strip (attach the D ring to the shorter strap)
I made Boyd take a break from studying and threw this on him. He is always a good sport when it comes to picture taking.
