Day 41: Popcorn

I L.O.V.E. Popcorn!
Before I moved to Ohio my mom gave me this popcorn maker and I pretty much use it every other day because of my popcorn addiction. Boyd was so nice and let me buy 12lbs of popcorn from Costco. Thank goodness for Costco. Popping popcorn like this reminds me of when I used to babysit Woody and Savannah. Every Friday night we would have a movie night with popcorn. One night Woody looked at me and said "lets make popcorn the 'old fashioned' way!" I had no clue what he was talking about till he pulled our his hot air popper. What a funny kid, the "old fashioned way."

Day 40: Study Study Study

Exam weeks are never fun, especially now that Boyd is in Podiatry school. For the past week that's all Boyd has been doing, studying, studying, and more studying. Last night I helped him study for his anatomy test. I woke up this morning mumbling something about the greater sciatic notch, the greater trochanter, something about nerves and T-12, S-1 through S-4, and something pertaining to the gluteus maximus and asking about the origin, insertion, action, nerve supply and artery supply. That's only about 5 minutes worth of studying we did last night. I guess it stuck with me a little.

P.S. A big thank you to our new friend Phil and his wife Rachel. I'm going to be watching Rachel's baby come June and when we went to meet them as a couple, Phil took Boyd under his wing and has been helping him out with school stuff. We are very grateful for Phil he has been such a blessing in our lives.

Day 37: Baby Blessing

Today was Flo's baby blessing.
Yay, Boyd held Flo! So, apparently Boyd doesn't do newborns. He always says that he is too scared of breaking them because they are too little. He did Just Fine, and Flo loved him. This is actually one of the best baby pictures ever. Baby pictures are always awkward because the baby is squirming or they flop over all funny, but Boyd did a fantastic job making himself and Flo look awesome!
( I think Boyd will make a great daddy someday! )

Day 36: New Niece

I have a new niece, Florence. She is so ADORABLE! I love her snugglyness and her HAIR! She is just so stinkin cute, just like the rest of her sisters!

Day 35: We are Nerds!

Yes, that is correct, Boyd and I are NERDS! Today we beat Super Mario Brothers Wii for the 3rd time getting five shiny stars! For those who are not acquainted with the game, getting five shiny stars means we finished every single level, found all the secrets, beat the whole game, etc. Go us! It has taken us since September to finish. Sorry the pictures are blurry, you can't do much with a $25 TV that we found on KSL in Utah. One more time, yes, Boyd and I are video game nerds.

Boyd is always Mario and I am always the Yellow Toad.

If you want to know how we passed the game together, this will give you some idea. Keep in mind, Boyd is Mario and I'm the Yellow Toad.

Day 34: Happy Chinese New Year!

America: Happy Chinese New Year!
China: Gong hey fat choy!
Taiwan: Gong see gong see scene liang how, ung bon boom tzeet lay lei!

(Looked it up on youtube, and what I learned from my childhood [Above sentences] is not quite how to say Happy Chinese New Year.

Here is how it goes for real: Guo nian hao [Guo-Step through, Nian- Year] {So it means pass through the current year to the new year} [Hao-good]

The Second half goes like this xin nian hao [Xin-New, Nian- Year, Hao - Good] {Good wishes for the new year}

The last part of the Taiwan phrase means now give me a red envelope, I think. But that is just what I have been told when I was a little kid.

Got a surprise in the mail today! Hurray for red envelopes! Thanks Mom and Dad!

Ohh ohh! I know what red envelopes mean!

This is Boyd's "I'M ASIAN!" face

Today it occurred to me that when I was a little kid I would run up to my Ghing Ghing (my Chinese grandma) and blabber off the wrong version of Happy Chinese New Year and she would just laugh at me and I would laugh back. Today I realized she was probably laughing at me because she had no clue what I was saying and I had no clue what I was saying to her.

Anyway, over Christmas break Ghing Ghing gave Boyd and me money to go out and buy a mahjong set. She told us "every time you play mahjong you think of Ghing Ghing!" (in her cute little Asian accented voice). So we did! And here it is! Thank you Ghing Ghing!

Haaaaappppeeeee Chineeeeese Neeeww Yeeeeeaarr!
Thanks for posing Boyd while I got the lighting and camera set up.

I love the flower tiles, they are my favorite. So why not take a picture of them!

Day 33: Tribute to the snow

On Monday we started getting weather watch warnings and heard about "The Big One" that was supposed to hit. All over the news, the radios, and online they kept saying we were going to get a huge ice storm and to be prepared. Turns out, it wasn't so bad after all but I still got a snow-day out of it. Yes, I was a lazy bum today, and it was fantastic! Last night around 12:30 Boyd and I walked outside just to see how bad it was going to be. We could walk on the snow and didn't leave any foot prints! I stood on the piles of snow in front of our building and didn't sink down. It was crazy! Here's a peek at what it looks like. I love how the snow looks so sparkly.

So, in honor of the snow I decided to take pictures of the snowflake hanging on my front door.

Then went to my kitchen to take more pictures of the snowflakes I have up.

Day 32: Feb 1, 2011

Oh the joys of living in an apartment. For the past few days we have noticed that our bathroom sink has been draining slowly. Bad News! We woke up to this in our sink!
Warning: If you get queasy, don't look at the next picture.

My stomach turned when I saw this and I just about gagged!
Boyd said it looks like somebody diarrheaed in the sink.
Thanks to the local Ace Hardware they sent me on my way with some Liquid Plumr.
What would I do without a husband? I have no idea!

This is Boyd's "lets see if it actually works" face.
So, we followed all the instructions and it slowly drained. With all our Liquid Plumr gone and a sink that is still mostly clogged, what were we to do? So we took apart our sink and started digging with a wire coat hanger. Our efforts paid off when Boyd started digging our rocks and black dirt. But when we tried again, but our sink still wouldn't drain. So we decided to give up for the night, because it was 11:00 p.m. and we'll talk to our land lord tomorrow about calling a professional. As I was wiping down our under the sink cleaning supplies with clorox wipes we heard our upstairs neighbors and their sink being jiggled. Hum, they must have a clog to.
THEN IT CAME!
BLAH!
So it looks like we are calling a plumber tomorrow. Our current solution is to cover it up with a box. Sometimes I wish that were the solution to everything. It's just so easy.

To make matters worse, when we were cleaning all of our tools in the tub, I looked down and noticed a bunch of black mold all over our shower curtain and just spent the last 1/2 hour with Boyd scrubbing mold off our shower curtain with bleach water. Any one have any suggestions as to how to beat the moldy shower curtains? It seems to be a huge problem here in Ohio and I just haven't figured out a way to combat it.
